Get more repeat customers with less effort through SumUp Loyalty
SumUp Loyalty gives you the same retention tools the big brands use, but without the complexity. You can get started immediately from your SumUp Dashboard, SumUp mobile app or from the Loyalty section on your SumUp Register. This is your control centre to set up your rewards, run promotions and manage automated campaigns.
SumUp Local is a mobile app built by SumUp for your customers. It helps them track their rewards and see your latest offers.
Rewards customers love, results you’ll see
Navigate to the Loyalty section in your SumUp dashboard and set up your reward programme. Create an incentive that will excite your regulars.
Points:Reward points based on spend. For example, 10 points per £1. Best for upselling and increasing basket sizes — customers are incentivised to spend more to reach reward tiers.
Stamps:Classic "buy X, get 1 free" model. For example, buy 9, get the 10th free. Best for businesses with consistent ticket sizes — keeps rewards simple.
You can switch between points and stamps anytime from Settings > Rewards > Change programme type. (This option appears once you have an active reward.)
Head to Settings > Business Profile. Make sure your business address, website, and phone number are filled in and up to date. This is what customers will see when they find you on the SumUp Local app.
Go to your main SumUp profile and find Brand and Image. Upload your logo and set your brand colours here. This is what your loyalty programme will look like to customers in the SumUp Local app.
Once your programme is up and running, every customer who signs up automatically starts earning rewards with each purchase. No scanning or stamping, no extra steps for your staff.
To check how your reward programme is looking, download the SumUp Local app yourself. Link a payment card and make a test purchase at your own business to see exactly what your customers see, including your branding and your reward.
If you have the new SumUp Register (2026): Your payment device doubles as a customer acquisition tool. The customer-facing display automatically prompts customers to enter their phone number at checkout. They will receive an SMS with a link to download SumUp Local. Existing SumUp Local customers see their current points balance or new rewards on the screen.
If you have a SumUp Terminal: Your custom reward is automatically promoted on the card reader screen after checkout. When customers scan the QR code, they're taken to a digital receipt page where they're also prompted to download SumUp Local.
All other devices: You can download a printable promotional kit with a unique QR code that links directly to your programme in SumUp Local. Head to How it Works in your dashboard and look for Get your Loyalty Starter Kit. Print it, place it in an acrylic stand (or any sturdy display) near your counter, and encourage customers to scan and join. Simple, visible, effective.
If you want to boost a quiet afternoon or promote a seasonal special, head to the Promotions section in your dashboard and create an offer. Your enrolled customers get a push notification sent straight to their phones.
Head to the Autopilot section in your dashboard and set up automated campaigns — win-back, welcome reward and birthday offers. Choose your offer, customise the message, and activate. Once it's on, each campaign runs automatically in the background, identifying the right customers and reaching out at the right time.
Head to the Customers tab in your SumUp Dashboard to see a full list of enrolled customers, their visit history, and their points or stamps balance. You can even manually adjust a customer's point balance, which is useful if they paid in cash and you want to ensure they still earn their points.
SumUp Local is a consumer app where your customers can track their rewards, stay updated on your latest offers, and discover other local businesses nearby. Think of it as the place where your loyalty programme lives on your customers' phones.
